Do you really know what’s in your dog’s food?

Your cat eats the same food every day. The brand you feed is your dog’s main source of nutrition and vital to a long and healthy life. So it makes sense to look past attractive labels and clever marketing ploys when deciding which food to buy.

Although you may think all pet food manufacturers have your pet’s best interests in mind, this is not always the case. Current pet food regulations allow manufacturers to use ingredients that you would never knowingly give to your pet. In fact, you may be shocked to learn what some brands of dog food really contain. For example: the use of  by-products (feet, bones and intestines, etc.), chemical preservatives (BHA and BHT) and grains that are often difficult to digest (corn, wheat, gluten and soy), which are often used as a protein source instead of meat.

Life’s Abundance Premium Food for Puppies & Adult Dogs is made using only fresh, human-quality ingredients. It is a nutrient dense food with high quality meat proteins and NO by-products, corn, wheat, gluten or soy. NO artificial flavors, colors, sugars or chemical preservatives. The First 5 Ingredients are Very Important

The first 5 ingredients play a significant role in the overall nutritional
make-up of a pet food. Protein is essential and we believe the primary source
should come from quality animal protein, not vegetable protein or grain.

  • Flint River Puppy & Adult Kibble lists 2 grains in the first 5 ingredients.
Foods that list 2 or more grains in the first 5 ingredients may have more
    vegetable protein than animal protein.

IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE PRICE!

Here are important benefits of Life’s Abundance that do not show up in the comparison:

  • Our manufacturer is APHIS certified to sell pet food in the European market, which has more stringent regulations than in the U.S. for pet food manufacturing.
  • We make small, frequent batches to insure that you get the freshest food possible. The Life’s Abundance food that you get delivered to your door may be about 6 weeks old. Some store bought pet food could be anywhere from 6 months to a year old.
  • We don’t use any chemical additives or preservatives. And we never will.
  • You can speak to our product formulator - Dr. Jane Bicks on her weekly conference call about Life’s Abundance pet food or any other Trilogy products. Dates and times of Dr. Jane’s calls are included in our free monthly newsletter. For more information sign up for our free monthly newsletter.

MORE ABOUT INGREDIENTS

PROTEINS - We believe the primary source of protein in cat food should come from animal protein, not vegetable protein or grains. Look for an identifiable animal protein such as “chicken meal” rather a generic term; such as, “poultry meal,” which can contain any fowl (turkey, chicken, geese, etc.).

CHICKEN MEAL VS. CHICKEN? Some manufacturers use chicken in their pet foods; however, TrilogyOnline prefers to use Chicken Meal. Why? Because chicken meat contains a certain amount of moisture in the flesh; however, chicken meal is a concentrated source of chicken protein because most of the water has been removed. Therefore, it only stands to reason that you get a greater “protein content” in 1 pound of chicken meal versus 1 pound of chicken.

BY-PRODUCTS - Depending on the source, some by-products can be difficult to digest. Low digestibility means less nutrition and more clean up. Some manufacturers consider by-products inferior sources of protein.

GRAINS - Some manufacturers use grains; such as, soy, corn, corn gluten and wheat gluten as protein sources.  Additionally, these grains can be difficult to digest.  Low digestibility means less nutrition and more clean up.  Foods that list 2 or more grains in the first 5 ingredients may have more vegetable protein than animal protein.

VEGETABLES - Provide essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber as well as other important nutrients vital for health and maintenance.

FATS - We believe the primary fat in cat foods should come from animal sources.  A cat’s diet must contain animal fat.  Animal fat contains an essential fatty acid called arachidonic acid and cats cannot get this important nutrient from any other source.

FIBERS - We believe a good fiber; such as, “beet pulp” paces the rate of digestion, which helps maintain a healthy digestive tract and promotes normal stools.

PROTEINATED MINERALS - Offer better absorption.

GRAPESEED EXTRACT - A natural source of concentrated antioxidant nutrients.

BACTERIAL CULTURES - Support a healthy immune and digestive system.

RECLOSABLE BAG* - Convenient reclosable bag helps protect against moisture and pests.

FIRST 5 INGREDIENTS - Ingredients in pet food products are listed on the product label in descending order of weight.  This can be deceptive because some manufacturers practice “ingredient splitting” in order to give some ingredients more prominence than others.  For example, chicken meal can appear as the first ingredient in a food even when there are actually more grains in the product, which can total a higher percentage of protein than the chicken meal.  We believe the primary source of protein in all pet foods (except for weight loss formulas) should come from meat or animal, not vegetable protein or grains.  Foods that list 2 or more grains in the first 5 ingredients may have more vegetable protein than animal protein.
