Anyone who has been to a CPR class is familiar with the basics of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. First you’ll check to be sure the patient has a clear airway, then check to see if the patient is breathing, check whether the patient has a heartbeat and, if the patient awakens during the process, be careful that you don’t get bitten by the patient.

The American Red Cross has been instructing people in CPR for pets for quite some time now and has classes that include all manner of first aid, including mouth-to-snout resuscitation. You read that correctly; mouth-to-snout.

Wanting a calm and obedient dog is important for a dog owner for a number of reasons. Well-trained and obedient dogs are often happier and less aggressive with other dogs and people. The law is another reason for a well-trained dog; many cities have ordinances requiring properly behaved dogs. This is true for certain breeds that are reputed to have aggression and other behavior issues, such as Pit Bulls and Rottweilers.

Training your dog well will make him a much better family companion, especially if you have children. Studies show that basic dog training can help to down the number of dog bites and other bad behaviors.

While everybody knows that Americans are getting fatter by the day, guess what? So are our cats! A quick look at the neighborhood veterinary clinic waiting room will likely show a similar situation - obese cats with health problems.

In a four-year research studies of feline obesity done by Cornell University published in the Journal of Nutrition, December 1998. It was found that overweight cats are more likely to suffer from serious diseases like diabetes, and obese cats are more likely to die at a younger age.

Do you need to know how to clean cat urine fast? It’s a common problem among cat owners. Your cat pees on the rug, leaving a foul smell that penetrates the whole room. If urine soaked carpet is not cleaned up immediately, the smell can settle into the whole house!

Cat lovers know that cats make adorable, low-maintenance pets. They do not demand as much attention as other pets do. They pretty much keep to themselves, unless they are in the mood to explore or to be a little bit affectionate with you. They are also basically clean animals. They groom themselves a lot, they mostly keep away from dirt, and they instinctively keep their own feces out of sight. If they are outdoor-cats, that is.

From the time we bring them home as wriggling bundles of joy, we all want our puppies to live forever. As they bond with us and grow into full fledged family members, we tend not to think about the end of their life or how many precious years we have with our canine friends.

However, when picking out our new puppy it is rare that we give adequate consideration to the average lifespan of the dog. There are distinct factors that play into whether our puppy will be with us until our children graduate from high school or if they give us a few good years.
